Sestriere
Built for snow – high, northwest-facing slopes and extensive snowmaking.
Sestriere lies at the heart of the Milky Way. There is a great selection of runs for all abilities that start in the town center. Also, another bonus is the modern lift system. Sestriere is a good base from which to explore the Milky Way. However, be warned, some lifts close with little warning if the wind gets up and a taxi back from France is not cheap.
The resort itself went through a bit of a makeover in the run-up to the Olympics. This was good in the long run because it meant faster lifts and more pleasing buildings. There are also some decent bars at Sestriere that provide lively entertainment!
Sestriere is between the sunny Susa and Chisone valleys.
It’s a friendly town with a mix of Italians and families coming to enjoy over 249 miles of pistes connected to the Milky Way. Sestriere was built for snow – high, with north-west-facing slopes – with extensive snowmaking. So if this corner of Italy let you down by its erratic snowfalls, you’ll be safe here.
The town is not very charming. However, it does host one mark of architectural genius: the circular hotel tower designed by Giovanni Agnelli in 1930. back then, Sestriere began its history as one of Italy’s major ski resorts. One of the best things about skiing Sestriere is that you are in Italy. Your skier’s appetite will be well satisfied by Piedmont specialties and all the Italian favorites.
With its exceptional snow coverage and variety of terrain, Sestriere guarantees a fun-filled holiday.
Winter sports enthusiast can take to the slopes to display their talents or advance their skills. Besides skiing or snowboarding, Sestriere has a variety of activities for either a fast pace or leisurely holiday that allow everyone to enjoy the pleasures of the mountains. Rent skis in Sestriere and when the skis fly off, enjoy the vivacity of the town. Be tempted by the many restaurants or splurge in the numerous boutiques or spas.
