Since 1089, Benedictine monks have continually been living and working in Melk Abbey. Enjoy the drive through the Wachau, great wine area of the Gruner Veltliner. top ^ Guided City Tour of ViennaGuided City Tour of Vienna: prime landmarks of Vienna are the gothic Stephansdom (St. Stephen Cathedral), the Giant Ferris Wheel in the Prater, old recreational park, and the Spanish Riding school with their world-famous Lipizzaner horses. Imperial grandeur of Vienna is the legacy of the powerful Habsburg monarchy. Their home for more than six centuries, the Hofburg palace complex, incorporates the Burgkapelle (Imperial Chapel), where the Vienna Boys Choir sings Sunday Mass. In the evening, we will visit a Heurigen, typical Austrian wine tavern in the vineyards top ^ Schonbrunn PalaceSchonbrunn Palace: From the 18th century to 1918, Schonbrunn was the residence of the Habsburg emperors. It was designed by the architects Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach and Nicolaus Pacassi and is full of outstanding examples of decorative art. The 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural, and historical monuments in the country and was home of Kaiserin Maria Theresia, Emporer Kaiser Franz Josef and Sissy. The site of the Palace and Gardens of Schonbrunn is outstanding as one of the most impressive and well preserved Baroque ensembles of its kind in Europe. Evening concert included at the Kursalon - a music hall in Vienna with Strauss & Morzart music top ^ BratislavaBratislava: Capital of Slovakia on the Danube River. The constitution of Slovakia as an independent country was adopted in Bratislava on September 1, 1992. On January 1, 1993 Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. We drive up to the Bratislavsky Hrad. The Bratislava Castle is visible from a great distance and we will enjoy an amazing view over the city before we stroll through narrow little streets to enjoy the atmosphere and typical food. The pedestrian-only, 18th-century old town is known for its lively bars and cafes top ^ "Wienerwald""Wienerwald" - Vienna Woods has been recognized by UNESCO as Biosphere Reserves in 2006. The forest, the heath, the vineyards and Hochberg hill are part of this Biosphere Reserve. The Vienna Woods offer a wealth of different habitats. We will drive to the romantic Helental, where the memorial chapel of Mayerling is located. Here the lives of Crowne Prince Rudolph and Baronesse Vetsera found an unhappy ending. We will also visit the medieval Abbey Heiligenkreuz, which is the second-oldest Cistercian monastery in the world and the oldest continuously active and inhabited one, now full of young vocations.
