Dear Ole Miss Travelers,

I invite you to join us on our traditional Ole Miss winter vacation in Europe. This January we will be visiting Salzburg and Vienna, Austria, and have extended our stay by two days to ensure we have ample time to make the most of our tour. Our longtime guide and friend Angelika will again be a part of making this a wonderful experience for us all.

A few highlights of this meticulously-planned itinerary include guided city tours of Salzburg, featuring a visit to the house where Mozart was born, and Vienna, including a visit of the Lippizaner horses, the imperial summer residence of the Habsburg family and an Austrian wine tavern.

This Austria vacation promises beautiful scenery, magnificent art and architecture, excellent food and wines, and the cherished camaraderie and fun we always have when Ole Miss alumni and friends travel together.

I look forward to hosting our group and welcoming you on this tour, which definitely is one you do not want to miss. Please return your reservation form as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Kirk Purdom, Executive Director
Ole Miss Alumni Association

Salzburg and Vienna

Salzburg

Salzburg

The birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and possibly the most beautiful city north of the Alps and UNESCO world heritage site since 1996. The face of Salzburg, dominated by the baroque majesty of the old city, was created in the 17th and 18th centuries. The city is divided by the Salzach River, with medieval and baroque buildings of the pedestrian Altstadt (Old City) on its left bank, facing the 19th-century Neustadt (New City) on its right. The Altstadt birthplace of famed composer Mozart is preserved as a museum displaying his childhood instruments.

Vienna

Vienna

Federal capital of AUstria, lies in the east of the country, on the Danube River and close to the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. It's the largest city of Austria and one of the nine States. Its artistic and intellectual legacy was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. The city is also known for its Imperial palaces, including Schonbrunn, the summer residence of Habsburgs. Baroque streets capes and imperial palaces set the stage for Vienna's artistic and musical masterpieces alongside its coffee-house culture and vibrant epicurean and design scenes.
