Club Med Turkoise Village is located on the island of Providenciales in Turks & Caicos, which is south of the Bahamas in the Caribbean.

Discover a breathtaking, secluded resort exclusively for adults comprised of colorful bungalows perched along a 12-mile beach.

This adult-only resort features 211 comfortable and refreshed Superior rooms and 80 brand new Deluxe rooms in colorful, 3-story bungalows for a casual, Caribbean feel. Take in the magnificent ocean view from the balcony of the newly designed Deluxe rooms.

Each room comes equipped with a flat-screen television, ironing kit, hairdryer, safe and mini-fridge.

The vast beach at Club Med Turkoise is considered by many to be the best beach on the island of Providenciales, and possibly the best beach in the Caribbean. Beach sand is as soft as talcum powder, and water is clear turquoise.

Chaise lounges are plentiful and the water is seductively warm, enticing swimmers to stay in long.

With such a gorgeous beach, few guests at Club Med Turkoise prefer spending time around the pool during the day. That said, it’s a lovely spot to linger after dinner, sipping a tropical drink, gratis in the all-inclusive rate.

Wherever you’ve spent the day, return to the beach at sunset for the best show on the island.

Explore the ocean depths in this divers’ paradise, one of the world’s top wall-diving destinations.

Popular beach sports at Club Med Turkoise include scuba diving, windsurfing, sailing, beach volleyball. and waterskiing. There’s no charge for lessons in kayaking, sailing Hobie Cats, windsurfing, or snorkeling.

The snorkel boat at Club Med Turkoise departs twice a day (no charge) to different locations and provides equipment. Water temperatures are generally in the low 80s.

Some visitors recommend snorkeling at Coral Gardens; a sunken freighter is among its underwater attractions.

Scuba divers wake up early to make the 8 am dive boat, a large catamaran with a snack bar and dive doctor on board. There is a fee for scuba diving which includes most equipment. Wetsuits are additional but due to the warmth of the waters, many divers forgo wearing one.

Kayaking is another of the popular water sports at Club Med Turkoise. Guests can eco-tour Providenciales via kayak, paddling to Iguana Isle and through stands of mangroves that shelter baby nurse sharks, rays, and a variety of tropical fish.

On land, guests can try their luck with circus athletics (juggling, trapeze swinging, trampoline jumping) as well as tennis, aerobics, pool games, and soccer. Massages are also available.

Other activities include basketball, tennis, body sculpting, dance lessons, and bocce. Golfers can play the course at nearby Ocean Club resort. Yoga classes are also held on the beach.

There’s also a troupe of circus performers who guide trampoline and flying trapeze activities in addition to producing several shows weekly.

Off-premise, take excursions such as taking a powerboat to Middle Caicos for a cave safari or touring the island by boat.

turks and caicos activities

Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets are laden with fresh fruits and vegetables, pasta, seafood, cheeses, breads and desserts. (Guests rave about the white-chocolate bread.)

Food and presentation have a distinctive French touch, and daily changing themes (Italian, Asian, Mexican, etc.) keep things from getting boring.

Inside, communal tables seat ten persons. Those who’d rather keep to themselves can eat outside at individual tables. Beer and inexpensive wines are included with meals.

Evenings at Club Med Turkoise, guests gather at Sharkie’s Bar. (In addition to an alcoholic beverage, Sharkie’s can supply smoothies, frozen drinks, and java jolts from an espresso machine.)

But that’s not the only night-time activity: There’s a weekly sunset cruise, circus performances, and production shows put on by the G.O.s. A DJ spins club music in the disco following the show, and you can always try your luck in a poker tournament or at the slot machines.

There are also two other restaurants including the quieter beachfront Grille. Dinners also have a different nightly theme when it comes to how to dress: Wednesday is a cowboy, Friday is (not very) formal, on Saturday many guests wear black, and for Sunday dinner they’re in white.

Koh Phi Phi is known as one of the most beautiful islands in the South of Thailand and a popular must-see tourist destination after the movie “The Beach”. Due to the popularity of this island, most day tours are crowded, stop at the same places, same time of the day. During this “boutique” day tour, you will still visit the popular sightseeing spots around Phi Phi island, but it will be a more pleasant, unique experience as this tour will follow a different itinerary and timing, and avoid the usual touristic traps!

Pick-up and transfer from your hotel to pier 88, a comfortable lounge and restaurant at Marina Bay Pier. For guests who did not have breakfast at the hotel yet, there is the possibility to enjoy American breakfast before leaving Phuket for the famous Phi Phi islands. Full day visit Phang Nga Bay by Speed Boat incl lunch (Approximate Time: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM)

James Bond Island is located in Phang Nga Bay within the Straits of Malacca, between the island of Phuket and the Malay Peninsula mainland close to southern Thailand. The island’s English nickname derives from the fact that it was the setting for Scaramanga’s lair in the film “The man with the Golden Gun”, starring Roger Moore as Ian Fleming’s legendary British agent, 007. With such a rich and varied natural environment, it’s not surprising that a number of different human cultures also co-exist in the local communities. Fishing is a popular industry, as is harvesting Nypa palm leaves, in addition to catering for the large presence of international tourism that is attracted by the area’s natural beauty. The original community inhabits the island of Koh Pannyi, a village built on stilts because of the tides that cause a water height increase of more than 2.5 meters.

Populated by Muslim sea gypsies, the village lies in the shadow of a large rock, which stands beside the local mosque’s green dome. The village currently houses 300 families with an economy that is heavily reliant on international tourism, people from where visit this unique setting in their droves.

Immortalized in cinema history, this famous rock is often used as the backdrop to striking images known in Thailand as ”Koh Tapu”, which means nail, reflecting its wide peak which narrows towards the base. From Phuket, you can reach the island in about 40 minutes by speed boat.

Visit the Tower of London

On the banks of the River Thames in the heart of London stands the Tower of London and nearly 1000 years of history and intrigue. The Tower of London has been used at various times as a palace, barracks, military stronghold, zoo and most famously as a prison incarcerating famous names like Sir Walter Raleigh, Anne Boleyn, and Guy Fawkes. During a visit to the Tower, you can see crown jewels worth over £20 billion, meet the Ravens who legends say have the fate of the Kingdom in their claws, talk to the distinctive Yoeman guards with their white ruffs, and learn about the gruesome torture that went on within the walls. The Tower is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the only intact medieval buildings on the list. At the Tower, there are also cafes and a shop

OPTIONAL: Visit Stonehenge

The Neolithic stone circle of Stonehenge in the Wiltshire countryside is one of the most famous wonders of the world. Dating back to approximately 3000 BC, the circle of huge upright and horizontal rectangular stones continues to fascinate academics, spiritualists and visitors. How and why did hundreds of people transport five tonne stones from all over the South of England and Wales to create a monument that has no obvious function? A multitude of theories regarding the origins and purpose of Stonehenge abound – some serious and some a little hard to believe but all have their supporters. Stonehenge could have been an elite burial mound, druid temple or ancient observatory and may have been put there by ordinary people, aliens or by Merlin the mythical wizard. This fascinating stone circle can be toured with audio guides and the modern visitor center includes over 250 artifacts, reconstructions of Neolithic houses, and a 360-degree audio-visual presentation that all help towards understanding the structure.

This morning depart Edinburgh and journey to Perth

    • Journey along the beautiful Fife coast and stop in villages such as Crail and Anstruther
    • Visit St. Andrew’s Castle
    • On a headland to the north of St. Andrews stand the ruins of the city’s castle, the main residence of the bishops and archbishops of St Andrews – the focal point of the Church in Medieval Scotland.
    • Today, a siege mine and counter-mine can be explored, and the ‘bottle dungeon’ viewed. St. Andrews Castle was the official residence of Scotland’s leading bishop (and later archbishop) throughout the Middle Ages. Its scale demonstrated the power and wealth of the bishops, and it was the setting for many important events which determined the course of Scottish history. Some of the key moments leading up to the Scottish Reformation in 1560 were played out within its precinct
    • Visit St. Andrew’s Cathedral, The remains of what was Scotland’s largest and most magnificent church still show how impressive St. Andrews Cathedral must have been in its prime. St. Andrews Cathedral dominated the history of the medieval Church in Scotland, from its construction in the 12th century until the Protestant Reformation in 1560. As Scotland’s largest and most magnificent medieval church, the cathedral was the seat of the country’s leading bishops. It occupied a site used for worship since the 8th century AD, when the relics of St. Andrew, Scotland’s patron saint, are said to have been brought here. The cathedral buildings are surrounded by a graveyard and encircled by the most complete and imposing monastic enclosure walls in Scotland

Today journey through the Cairngorms

Visit Royal Lochnagar Distillery

A visit to Royal Lochnagar, the local distillery to Balmoral, is a timeless experience. You can see distillers tending the traditional mashtun and the gleaming copper stills. The end product still relies on age old traditions and craftsmanship to produce one of Scotland’s most exclusive whiskies. At the tour end, your complimentary dram will confirm that Royal Lochnagar is a malt whisky worthy of the ‘Royal’ prefix to its name

Visit Balmoral Castle

Set amongst the magnificent scenery of Royal Deeside, in the shadows of Lochnagar, is the Balmoral Estate. Purchased by Queen Victoria in 1848, the Estate has been the Scottish home of the British Royal Family ever since. Covering about 20,000 hectares (just over 50,000 acres) of heather clad hills, ancient Caledonian woodland, and of course the beautiful River Dee nearby. Over the past 150 years, careful stewardship by the Royal Family has preserved the wildlife, scenery and architecture for all to enjoy. In her journals Queen Victoria described Balmoral as “my dear paradise in the Highlands”. The original castle was considered too small for the needs of the Royal Family and under the supervision of Prince Albert a new building was designed. When Queen Victoria died in 1901, Balmoral Estates passed, under the terms of her will, to King Edward VII, and from him to each of his successors. Although it remains largely the same as it was in Queen Victoria’s reign, successive Royal owners have followed the initiative of Prince Albert in making improvements to the estate

Today journey through the Burren Region

The Burren landscape covers over 150 square kilometers and is one of Ireland’s 6 National Parks. The region is visually similar to a moonscape, yet shelters a mixture of flora and archaeological sites which have attracted visitors for centuries. Man came here over 6000 years ago, cleared the forests and set in motion soil erosion. Centuries of weathering has produced a terrain of fissured limestone pavements, disappearing lakes, terraced mountains, and underground cave systems. For millennia man has left his mark, megalithic tombs and cooking sites litter the pavements, while medieval tower houses and churches guard the valleys. Today man is absent from most of the upland, leaving behind ancient field systems, route ways and place names. Today’s visitors to the Burren will find Arctic, Alpine and Mediterranean plants growing together.

Visit the Cliffs of Moher

Situated on the Atlantic Ocean and bordering the Burren region, the Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland’s most spectacular sights. Standing 230 metres above the ground at their highest point and 8km long, the Cliffs boast one of the most amazing views in Ireland. On a clear day, the Aran Islands are visible in Galway Bay as well as the valleys and hills of Connemara. The cliffs reach their highest point just north of O’ Brien’s Tower built by Cornelius O’ Brien, a descendant of Brian Boru, to entertain his lady friends. A visit of the tower is also possible. The sweeping view across the Atlantic has recently been ranked the best ‘cliff-view’ on the planet by Conde Nast Traveler. The respected travel publication has voted the world-famous landmark at the top of a new chart of ‘ Nine Gorgeous Cliff Views That Rival The Grand Canyon’
Enjoy a light lunch, wine and a traditional Irish session at the Doolin Music House.

Christy Barry and his partner Sheila have entertained friends and musicians at their home for many years, sitting around the fire playing music and telling stories. Although the pub sessions are extremely popular they realised that many of their visitors preferred to listen to traditional music in the intimate environment of their home. As a result, they open up their atmospheric home to visitors so they can experience local Irish music in the relaxed surroundings of their home. Christy talks and discusses the history of traditional Irish music and plays great tunes together with his friend James Devitt. You will enjoy the experience of visiting a local home, enjoying local company and listening to a good traditional music session around the fire. Sheila is an artist and her works surround the rooms in the house creating a truly art home atmosphere. Light lunch can be served during your visit – smoked salmon and brown bread, Irish cheeses accompanied by a glass of wine or a soft drink.

Galway to Dublin
JULY 15, 2019

This morning depart Galway and journey to Dublin

On arrival in Dublin, meet your local guide and enjoy a panoramic tour

First you will discover the north side of the River Liffey. This area offers great striking monuments such as the GPO (General Post Office) on the city main thoroughfare, O’Connell Street, or the Custom House along the quays, as well as the Phoenix Park, the largest public park in Europe. The south side appears more sophisticated with its vast Georgian squares, such as Merrion Square, where Oscar Wilde’s House can still be found (today owned by an American College), its colourful doors, along with Grafton Street and its quality shops. Not so far from St. Stephen’s Green, in Kildare St., you will see the house of Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula. This part of the city is also dominated by the students of Trinity College, where the famous book of Kells is permanently exhibited in its library. The university is facing the medieval district where Dublin Castle and the two Anglican Cathedrals can be found.

Spend the balance of the day at leisure

OPTIONAL: Visit the Guinness Storehouse

The Guinness Brewery in Dublin is Europe’s largest stout producing brewery and home to the Guinness Storehouse. Opened in 1904, the Storehouse was an operational plant for fermenting and storing Guinness. Today it houses a very fine exhibition dedicated to the Guinness story. Visitors will discover what goes into the making a pint of Guinness – the ingredients, the brewing process, the time, the craft and the passion. The exhibition shows how the brew has been marketed and how it is today sold in over 150 countries. Once the tour has finished, the guest is invited to the Gravity Bar to enjoy their pint of Guinness. Regular demonstrations on the art of pulling a pint of Guinness also take place in the Storehouse. Launched on the fifth floor in 2011, “Five” at Guinness Storehouse, includes a small replica authentic Irish Bar, an 18th Century inspired Brewers Dining Hall, and a restaurant named Gilroy’s where guests enjoy a Guinness gastronomical experience driven entirely by the Irish tradition of wholesome local produce. Menus include local foods such as Ardsallagh goat’s cheese, Irish mussels from Carlingford and the Waterford Blaas bread supplied by MD Bakery in Waterford. This area will host from time to time live cooking demonstrations using Guinness in the recipe and it includes an interactive recipe sharing bank that allows visitors to take Guinness recipe cards home.

Portillo, Chile

What are you doing this summer?

Ski the legendary Chilean Andes from June to September and take advantage of exclusive wine and ski tours, food and wine festivals, and discounted packages that showcase the striking contrasts for which Chile is famous. Courmayeur, “Dolce Vita” under Mont Blanc

Italy is not just Rome, Milan, Venice and Florence, the tourist destinations par excellence: in winter, Courmayeur, on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, is paradise for skiers, climbers and dolce vita enthusiasts. An unrivaled alpine landscape and a warm Italian welcome.

Italy is well-known all over the world for its cultural treasures, its old towns, its fashion design, and its extraordinarily varied landscapes. In winter, in one of the top ten tourist attractions in Italy, a vacation under Mont Blanc cannot be missed. The Roof of Europe, in fact, is also Italian: on the Italian side of the mountain lies Courmayeur, the famous winter resort. The cradle of mountaineering, a romantic village nestled in the Alps, a glamorous destination: there’s always something to enjoy in this fascinating resort.

The most exceptional character of Courmayeur is its unique location: positioned among Italy, France and Switzerland, it represents the essence of the Italian Way of life. On the Italian side of Mont Blanc you can find the sense of style which is so typically Italian. Courmayeur is a perfect synthesis of different cultures. Mountains do not separate people, they rather unite peoples: no barriers can be found in this little town, where, traditionally, Italian and French alike are spoken. Despite being located at high altitude, thanks to its climate, Courmayeur deserves the appellation “the sunny side”: the summits form a barrier to the clouds, and even in the depths of winter the resort often boasts a beautiful bright blue sky.

Courmayeur is a paradise for skiers: the location offers a magnificent view of the Mont Blanc range and a great variety of perfectly powdered slopes. And, at the end of every day, the fun never stops, thanks to the après-ski: the gondola is open until midnight for those who wish to stay on the mountain in the bars and restaurants at high altitude to enjoy an aperitif or a dinner with shows, dj sets and live concerts.

Courmayeur is particularly renowned for freeride, with its stunning scenery of 40 miles of fabulous slopes, lovely blankets of powder, and an incomparable landscape. The ski area gives access to wonderful, world-famous descents, and the area around Mont Blanc offers a series of beautiful off-piste runs, such as the incredibly scenic Vallée Blanche, between Italy and France, and Toula, on the Italian side.

Lastly, Courmayeur, embodies the essence of elegance, which is perfectly represented by its “boutiques”. This town perpetuates an age-old tradition of warm welcome, and at the same time knows every little secret of a refined lifestyle. Here you can find the most prestigious brands and the most trendy bars and restaurants, and, actually, we can even speak of a “Courmayeur way of life”. A stroll in the historic via Roma means plunging into the glamourous style of the shops offering clothing, handcrafts, jewelry and design, as well as the gastronomic delicacies and wines typically produced in Aosta Valley.

The Amadé Sports Region Salzburg Skiing, Culture and More Skiing

A winter vacation in Salzburg is more than a ski vacation.

This picturesque old city offers an extraordinary cultural experience and serves as a fantastic base for skiing more than 100 resorts throughout “Land Salzburg.” Salzburg is on the site of the Roman town Javavum, once an important crossroad in the empire. The beautiful baroque city that you see today was built in the 17th and 18th centuries. Museums and palaces bear witness to the city’s fascinating history.

Salzburg is a city, not a resort.

But the surrounding area offers skiers and snowboarders just about any type of terrain that they could want. There are a number of different ski areas to explore.

The Amadé Sports Region includes the scenic resorts of

  • Altenmarkt-Zauchensee
  • Wagrain
  • Filzmoos
  • Kleinarl

The Gastein Valley is home to three popular resorts:

  • spa resort of Bad Gastein
  • quieter town of Hofgastein
  • family-oriented Dorfgastein

The Europa Sports Region includes:

  • Zell am See
  • Kaprun
  • Hohe Tauern National Park (provides many resorts at lower elevations)

There are also ski safari programs that make it easier to ski several of the resorts in one trip.

The ski season in Land Salzburg generally runs from mid-December to mid-April, with year-round skiing available at the Kaprun glacier.

About 60 percent of the resorts in the overall region is best suited for intermediates, with over 80 mountains to ski. Advanced skiers find fun off-trail terrain at Bad Gastein, Leogang, and Saalbach and for an even greater thrill there are off-trail glacier tours at Altenmarkt/Zauchensee, and the Kitzstein Glacier near Zell am See.

While most of the resorts in the area are small, skiers will find challenging, varied terrain within a short distance of Salzburg.

The Salzburg Super Ski Card is valid in 22 ski regions in Land Salzburg covering 1,250 miles of trails. Passes are available for anywhere between three and 14 days. The Amadé lift pass is valid in 28 ski destinations covering 538 miles of trails and skiers can travel by ski shuttle between different resorts.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm is one of the most popular resorts in the area for snowboarders. You will find two half-pipes, a boardercross, and a fun park that is lit at night. There are 12 kilometers (eight miles) of terrain dedicated only to snowboarders. There are also fun parks at Bad Hofgastein, Flachau, Saalfelden, and Grossarl. There’s plenty of off-trail terrains, but borders must be aware of avalanche risks. There are lessons available to instruct boarders on survival techniques as well as the finer points of snowboarding.

Cross-country skiing enthusiasts enjoy over 220 kilometers (137 miles) of trails in the Wagrain Region, 76 kilometers (47 miles) of trails at Abtenau, and over 200 kilometers (124 miles) of cross-country trails in the scenic Hohe Tauern National Park. Ice climbing is available for those who prefer to scale the frozen stuff rather than ski down it. Climbers can sign up for tours and receive instruction before heading out. Advanced climbers love the Salzach Gorge and waterfalls located 30 kilometers (19 miles) from Salzburg.

Most resorts in Land Salzburg have toboggan runs. Some of the best in the area are at Bad Hofgastein, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, and Wagrain. Most resorts also offer horse-drawn sleigh rides. Many companies offer sleigh rides in the Grossarl Valley and in Bad Gastein, some of which include a stop for snacks at a mountain inn.

Après-ski is lively throughout Austria and the Salzburg region is no exception.

Saalbach has a reputation as the best of the resorts for rowdy nightlife. There are almost 40 bars keeping the night alive. Zell am See is also a good spot for those who like to party. Bad Gastein draws an older, more serene après-ski clientele. In Salzburg itself, there’s a wide range of nightlife opportunities. In the bars that line the left side of the Salzach River, you’ll find everything from Irish music to heavy metal. Along the Steingasse are numerous bistros and bars, among many others in the Old City.

One of the main perks of staying in Salzburg is the abundance of cultural events and activities to experience. Salzburg is famous for being the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the city celebrates his life in many ways. From Mozart Square to Mozart’s birthplace, there are ample opportunities to learn more about the composer. Salzburg’s Old City is on UNESCO’s list of world cultural heritage sites and is always popular with sightseers. There are excellent museums in Salzburg including the Museum of Natural Science in the center of the Old City.

With so many Austrian traditions to learn about and enjoy, Salzburg is the perfect choice for vacationers looking for a cultural experience in addition to first-rate skiing.

This post is a reprint from the “Classic” version of the SkiEurope Report Newsletter.  The article gives a great overview of the region’s attractions and various ski resorts.

It’s just a 25-minute trip to Italy through the Mont Blanc tunnel and about the same amount of time from Chamonix to Switzerland traveling over the Col des Montets.

There are 145 trails weaving throughout the area adding up to 140 kilometers (87.5 miles). The favorite runs in the area are Le Brevent, Vallée-Blanche, and the Grands Montets. Chamonix is known for its fantastic off-trail skiing and snowboarding opportunities, as well. Including the off-trail slopes, the area offers up to 30,000 acres of skiable terrain.

While Méribel is often called an “intermediate’s paradise” there’s plenty for beginners, as well. France’s famous ski school, L’Ecole Du Ski Français, is an excellent place for those beginners to upgrade their skills. The resort offers great trails for experts as well as some awesome off-trail areas. Other winter sports abound including cross-country skiing, some of the best ice hiking in the Alps, dog sledding, tobogganing, and even bobsledding on an Olympic run.

Val d’Isère

This resort succeeds at combining spine-tingling skiing and vivacious après-ski for the maximum effect. Skiers and snowboarders have the run of the vast L’Espace Killy, named for the famous French skier, Jean Claude Killy. As the venue for 1992 Winter Olympic ski events, Val d’Isère has seen some of the best skiers in the world.

Beginners have plenty of space to practice their skills with 30% of trails suited for them. Forty-seven percent of Val d’Isère’s trails are devoted to intermediates and provide lots of altitude. Experts enjoy on and off-trail skiing at the resort including the Bellevarde Face considered one of the most difficult men’s downhill courses in the world.
